What is a Breast Fat Transfer?
A breast fat transfer, also called a natural breast augmentation, is a technique that uses redundant fat from another area of the body to enhance the shape and size of the breasts. It is a breast augmentation technique that may be ideal for patients who are seeking more subtle results. A breast fat transfer can increase breast size by approximately one cup size. It may also be an ideal treatment for patients who are looking to correct asymmetry in the breasts. There is also the added benefit of requiring liposuction to harvest the fat, which will help contour other areas of the body, leading to a synergistic aesthetic effect.
How Much Does a Breast Fat Transfer Cost?
The cost of a breast fat transfer can vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to deliver a patient’s desired results. When you schedule a consultation with Dr. Go of Newport Plastic Surgery, he will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific cosmetic goals. Once this treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of treatment. We also offer financing through CareCredit® to make this and other treatments more affordable.
How is a Breast Fat Transfer Performed?
The first step of a natural breast fat transfer procedure is collecting the fat, which is done via liposuction using micro body sculpting and contouring techniques. Fat harvesting can be taken from many areas of the body that have excessive fat collections, including the abdomen, hips, or thighs. Once collected, the fat grafts with stem cells are isolated and purified so that it can be safely placed back into the body. The fat is gently delivered into the breasts through a couple of small access points. After the fat grafting is performed, the post-op garment is applied and the treatment is complete.
How is Recovery After a Breast Fat Transfer?
After a natural breast fat transfer, your recovery will depend on the breasts as well as the area where fat was collected from. Most patients are able to return to normal light activities within a week, but it can take a few weeks for the newly injected fat grafts to settle. During this time, it is important to take special care not to apply pressure to the breasts. Not all of the fat injected into the breasts will ‘take’, but typical natural breast augmentation/fat grafting results lead up to a full cup size increase in volume of the breasts.
