Xeomin® is one of several botulinum toxin-based injectable treatments that can help patients diminish facial wrinkles. At Newport Plastic Surgery, we offer this treatment through Dr. Go, one of the most skilled plastic surgeons in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Newport Beach, and the neighboring California communities.
What is Xeomin®?
Xeomin® is an injectable treatment composed of a purified form of botulinum toxin. Xeomin® is a neuromodulator, which means that it can block nerve signals when active in the body. The Xeomin® treatment is used to block nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. When injected into wrinkle-causing muscles, patients will notice a reduction in the visibility of wrinkles that leads to a more youthful appearance. This can also help prevent wrinkles from worsening. Xeomin® doesn’t contain any added ingredients, which makes it a suitable treatment for patients who may have built up a tolerance to Botox® or Dysport®. You can use Xeomin® to address the following cosmetic concerns:
- Forehead wrinkles
- Crow’s feet creases
- Frown lines between the eyes
- Platysmal bands in the neck
How Much Does Xeomin® Cost?
The cost of Xeomin® can vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to deliver a patient’s desired results. When you schedule a consultation with Dr. Go of Newport Plastic Surgery, he will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific cosmetic goals. Once this treatment plan is developed, we will be able to provide you with the exact cost of treatment. We also offer financing through CareCredit® to make this and other treatments more affordable.
How is Xeomin® Administered?
Xeomin® is administered through a number of injections into and around the desired treatment areas. The injection process is generally well-tolerated with minimal discomfort. The Xeomin® treatment takes less than 30 minutes to complete, which is why it and many similar injectable treatments are referred to as “lunchtime” or “lunch break” treatments.
What is Recovery Like After a Xeomin® Treatment?
After a Xeomin® treatment, patients may notice mild bruising, swelling, or redness around the injection site. These effects are common, and typically fade within a few days. Despite these side effects, patients will be able to return to work and other normal activities immediately after their appointment. There is no downtime required after Xeomin®.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Xeomin®?
You will begin to notice results from your Xeomin® injections once the formula takes effect, usually in about three or four days. The full results will be visible approximately one week after treatment. The Xeomin® formula produces results that last about three to four months. After this point, many patients choose to receive additional treatments to maintain their results.
