Arm Lift

As we age or if we’ve lost a large amount of weight, it is common for areas of loose skin to develop along the underside of the upper arm, creating a “bat wing” appearance.  Often combined with liposuction, the Arm Lift procedure can restore and reshape your upper arms by removing  excess skin and fat, restoring a more toned, youthful, and firmer appearance.
Am I a candidate for an Arm Lift?
You might be a candidate for an Arm Lift if:

  • You are in good overall health
  • You have extra skin along the underside of your upper arms
  • You do not smoke, or are willing to quit smoking at least two months before and after the procedure
The Procedure
After several pre-surgical consultations, Dr. Goshtasby will perform the Arm Lift procedure under general anesthesia. During the surgery, an incision is made between the armpit and the elbow, along the inner side of the arm to minimize any visible scarring. The excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed beneath the skin’s surface with dissolving sutures.
Recovery
Patients usually require one to two weeks off work. During this time you may require strong pain medications and it may take one to two weeks to regain normal functioning of your hands and arms.

Dr. Goshtasby will consult with prior to your surgery so that he understands your goals and expectations and together, the two of you will determine an appropriate treatment plan.
