Tummy Tuck

If you have lost significant amounts of weight, or due to genetics, have loose abdominal skin and fat concentrated around your midline, you may benefit from a Tummy Tuck procedure. A Tummy Tuck procedure will leave you looking and feeling better and in some cases, will improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Often during pregnancy, the abdominal skin is stretched, becoming saggy and flaccid, refusing to return to its original shape and tone. A Tummy Tuck procedure will help you regain a more youthful, vital, and toned appearance. More often than not, your clothing will also fit better and you will gain new confidence by looking and feeling your best.

Am I a Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
If you have loose or sagging abdominal skin that is out of proportion to the rest of your body, have abdominal muscles that have separated or have become weakened, or if you have an abdominal hernia, you may be a candidate for a Tummy Tuck procedure. Dr. Goshtasby also recommends that you do not smoke and that you are not planning future pregnancies or a large weight loss in the future.

The Procedure
Under general anesthesia, Dr. Goshtasby will first make a horizontal incision just above the pubic area, then readjust the skin and tighten the underlying tissues. The excess skin is removed, and the incision is sutured and sterile dressings applied.

Recovery
Recovery time varies among individuals depending on the extent of the surgery and your physical condition. Generally, there will be some bruising and swelling that could last for several months, but you should expect to return to your daily activities one to three weeks after surgery.

Dr. Goshtasby will be happy to personally consult with you to explore treatment options to help you achieve your desired result.
