Breast Augmentation

There are many reasons why a woman may be unhappy with her breasts: the size or shape or because of changes that may occur during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or after weight loss. Breast augmentation is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the United States. Breast augmentation can give you a more proportional shape and may improve your self esteem.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

You might be a good candidate for Breast Augmentation if:

  • You are unhappy with the shape and/or size of your breasts
  • Your breast are saggy
  • You feel self-conscious about the size of your breasts
  • You are in good general health
  • You do not smoke
  • You have realistic expectations about the results
The Procedure
Performed under general anesthesia, a breast augmentation surgery lasts from one to two hours. To prevent any visible scarring, Dr. Goshtasby makes incisions in natural folds of the armpits, in the creases on the undersides of the breasts, or around the areolas. After positioning the implants, he will suture the incisions and dress the wounds.

Recovery
After the surgery, you will feel tired and sore for several days and most patients are able to return to their normal activities within a week or ten days. Any pain, swelling and sensitivity will diminish over the next few weeks and the scars will fade over the next several months.

Dr. Goshtasby will be happy to personally discuss the options to help you obtain the desired result.
